Gino's Interview
GR: Self-Titled

Gino Ruberto and Durango

Most K102 listeners are familiar with the name 'Gino Ruberto' because he was a morning show co-host who wrote parodies.  He's now playing at clubs all over the state with 'Durango' and has cranked out an album of his own.  Gino Ruberto and Durango play one of the largest mixes of country music I've ever seen a band cover.

Be sure to also check out Gino's Interview and the CD review of his 'Self-Titled' CD!

Meet The Band:

Gino plays acoustic guitar and keyboards as well as sings.  He's got a great amount of talent for all three!  His enthusiasm level seems to be set in high gear and he doesn't seem to slow down at all throughout the night.

Alex plays the banjo, harmonica, rhythm guitar and fiddle as well as offering vocals.  He has an incredible amount of talent that he brings to the band.  What a multi-talented individual!  I was highly impressed with the wide range of instruments he plays, as well as adding vocals to the group!

Chip is the bass player.  He offers a great amount of talent and enthusiasm that he brings to this group.

Shawn is the drummer.  He is very talented and seems to be having a great time while he's on stage.

Nicole is the background/lead vocalist.  She offers great talent and enthusiasm to the group.  The one song she sang lead in was great!

Harry is the lead guitar player.  He was very talented.  He got off stage and got on a table while playing, but didn't seem too active on stage until the end of the night.

The Music:
This group plays country covers by John Denver, Eddie Rabbitt, Lonestar, and more.

They also play some of Gino's parodies as well as songs off of his self-titled CD.

Their performance:
The Pros:
Gino Ruberto and Durango play one of the widest mixes of country I've seen a country band cover.

They know how to keep the dance floor busy, offering music that calls out to almost any music fan.

The Cons:
If there's anything that I see that is a down point to their show, it would have to be the fact that they don't do much to get the crowd involved in their show.

My Thoughts:
Gino Ruberto and Durango are a group of talented individuals who put the country back in country music.  I was very impressed with the entire group.  I really liked the WIDE mix of country music that they played.  Gino Ruberto livens up the stage with his incredibly high amount of enthusiasm and talent, and Durango offers great music and enthusiasm.  The dance floor was busy the entire night.  They offer a great time whether you come out to dance or just to watch them play.

Rating:
My rating on a one to five scale (five being terrific) would be a five.
They were a lot of fun to listen to and watch!
