Stall 68 - Interview with Chris

Here's an interview with Chris of Stall 68.  Thank you Chris!

Question:
"Birth date?"

Answer:
"06/12/1973"

Question:
"City you reside in?"

Answer:
"New Ulm, Minnesota."

Question:
"Marital status/family?"

Answer:
"Married for 7 years/2 kids (daughter is 4, son is 1).  They're my number one reason for living!"

Question:
"Favorite drink?"

Answer:
"Beer - Michelob Golden Draft Light, and 'a hairy buffalo' (for impact!)."

Question:
"Favorite local band?"

Answer:
"Alibi."

Question:
"Favorite national band?"

Answer:
"Dream Theater (for level of talent), and Creed (for the good hooks and luck)."

Question:
"Hobbies?"

Answer:
"Anything outdoors and wrestling with my kids!  Sex is fun too."

Question:
"Musical influences?"

Answer:
"Stevie Ray Vaughn, 'Obe One' Petrucci (some call him John), Joe Satrianni, Eric Clapton, and the very spirit of rock and roll!"

Question:
"How long have you been with this band?"

Answer:
"Since 1999."

Question:
"How long have you been entertaining, alone or with a group?"

Answer:
"Fifteen years!  Many different bands..."

Question:
"Before this, what kind of experience did you have in the entertainment industry, musical or otherwise?"

Answer:
"When I first started 'gig'n' was at the age of 15.  My first show was at an arcade in Gibbon, Minnesota, but by the next year we were opening for 'Slave Raider' in places like 'The Horseshoe' in Lake Lillian and at the 'Palmour Ballroom' in Glencoe.  We even ran down to Sherburn to open at the 'Fox Lake Ballroom'.  Also played in a top forty band in high school.  After that I was in and out of cover bands..."

Question:
"What's your favorite thing about entertaining?"

Answer:
"Getting it right!  I love the crowds to death, but even if there was nobody there, as long as I performed seamlessly, without a hitch, I was happy!  I live for the crazy crowds though!"

Question:
"What's your least favorite thing about entertaining?"

Answer:
"A lot of people just think we get up there and play for 4 hours and have fun!  Granted it is more fun than anything I can think of, but there's a lot of prep time, practice (collectively and individually), and my brother (Wes, our bass player) and I own our production equipment!  Two hours to set up, two hours to tear down and then the long drive home!  Not only that, but there's also equipment failures!  Money straight out of the pocket!  But in spite of all that, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!"

Question:
"What's your most memorable moment on stage?"

Answer:
"Body surfing two years ago on New Year's Eve during a show!  Huge crowd at Holiday Inn in New Ulm!  We're playing there this New Year's Eve as well.  One of the best feelings ever.  Also on the same night, someone spilled beer on the stage (thanks Wes!) and I slipped and fell flat on my back!  But I never stopped playing!  In fact, the bar manager was on stage filming, and came over and poured beer into my mouth from a pitcher!  I guess that qualifies as memorable..."

Question:
"What's your most memorable moment off stage, music related?"

Answer:
"Having dinner with the guys from 'Slaughter' and going back stage for some brewsky's."

Question:
"Where's your favorite place to perform?"

Answer:
"'Hooligan's' in Mankato.  The crowds are good and they have an in-house system.  Yeaaaa!  I don't have to set up and tear down!"

Question:
"Is there anything your fans don't know about you that you think they should?"

Answer:
"I'm a GIANT!  Shrunken to a mere 5'6" tall.  Stayed in the dryer to long."

Question:
"Is there anything you want to say to your fans?"

Answer:
"Don't take any (expletive) from anyone!  Life's too short to get beat down by some egotistical jerk!  Be proud and don't take for granted the things you already have!  They're easily lost!  And don't pout over the things you don't have!  If you want something in life, the only thing you can do is try your hardest!  If it doesn't work out, then it wasn't supposed to."

Question:
"Is there anything that you want to add?"

Answer:
"Head up, nose down, and keep the bottom sides on the ground.  Peace.  And thanks Jasmine!"
