Austin Healy - Interview with George

Here's an interview with George of Austin Healy.

Question:
"Names of the members of the band and the instruments they play?"

Answer:
"Todd (lead vocals & lead guitar) and Bob (bass & lead vocals) are the two founding fathers of the band that they started back in their high school days.  Rob (lead guitar) and Al (lead vocals & lead guitar) both joined the band back in the early 90's and I (George) joined back in Sept of 2001."

Question:
"How did the band get its name?"

Answer:
"Bob the bass player came up with the name based upon Austin Healy automobile that I believe is an English made car."

Question:
"How long has the band been in existence?"

Answer:
"The band has been in existence for going on two decades now."

Question:
"Album(s) the band has released and the year(s) they were released?"

Answer:
"The band has one self-titled CD that was recorded in the mid-90's.  Unfortunately I'm (George) not on it."

Question:
"Where can people find out more about your band?"

Answer:
"People can find more about the band at www.austinhealy.com.  We always have the updated schedule and news/photos posted there."

Question:
"Where's your favorite place to perform?"

Answer:
"We love to perform at all of our venues so it's hard to single any out.  We play a variety of outdoor concerts in the summer such as: Rib Fest, Taste of Minnesota, and Claim to Fame to name a few.  We open up shows for several national acts such as:   Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special & Lynyrd Skynyrd. And we play most of the top clubs in the Twin cities and our fan base makes them all enjoyable."

Question:
"What's your favorite thing about entertaining?"

Answer:
"I'd have to say that my favorite thing about entertaining is the vibe and reaction you get from the crowd. The roar of cheers and applause after a song.  The reaction of the crowd when you start a song and see a mass of people all get up at the same time and head to the dance floor.  And of course the commeraderie and fellowship that you enjoy with your band members & crew."

Question:
"What's your least favorite thing about entertaining?"

Answer:
"My least favorite thing about entertaining is when there's just
something in the air on a particular night and the band and the crowd just aren't having very much fun."

Question:
"What's your most memorable moment on stage?"

Answer:
"I don't know if I can single out any most memorable moment (so many moments, so few brain cells) but I expect that I will have several this summer with all the big shows we're doing and all the national bands we are doing shows with."

Question:
"What's your most memorable moment off stage, music related?"

Answer:
"The most memorable moments off stage (for me) are just moments like the laughs and the joking we have together. The enthusiasm of the fans on any given night. Thing like people lining up to buy shirts, posters & have CD's signed.  I'm sure the other fellas could give you more noteworthy examples of some of
the stories I've heard about like hangin' and partying with the guys from .38 Special or other big bands."

Question:
"Is there anything you want to say to your fans?"

Answer:
"We like to say to all of our fans: Thank you so much for 2 decades of support and making Austin Healy one of the Twin cities biggest & longest surviving bands. With out you, none of this would be possible. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts."
